Doona’s hybrid approach gives caregivers’ an alternative option for getting around town, minus the usual rigmarole of the bulky car seat / stroller setup or the awkward car seat carry. Doona transforms from car seat to stroller "in seconds.” To go from stroller to car seat, retract the handle with a button on the bar, then squeeze buttons on either side of the handle, and press the handle forward into an upright position. Finally, pull the safety lever on the back of the seat while holding the front wheel in place with your foot, and rotate the seat forward, toward baby’s feet, until the wheels lock into place.
The downside of Doona is that it goes into retirement quickly: once baby graduates from infant to toddler, it doesn’t convert to accommodate bigger kids. When the car seat requires an upgrade at 35 lbs, a new stroller will be required, too.
